What Are Career Coaching Services?

As you go through different phases of your life, you and your career will be in a constant state of change. As working professionals, we all have to continually take stock of our career goals and make decisions that align with our life priorities. These priorities naturally change over time, and can depend greatly on both your age and on where you are in your career.

Career coaching and counselling is a structured process to help you gain self-awareness of your needs, values, interests, abilities, and vulnerabilities. The objective of career coaching is to provide insight to your own priorities and professional goals, so that you are better placed to make career-related choices and decisions.

Working with a career coach can also help you on a self-actualising journey toward higher performance and personal effectiveness, as well as guiding you toward a more fulfilling career.

At Counseling Perspective, our career coaches take a holistic approach in facilitating your understanding of yourself and your life circumstances, as well as your current job and work environment. We then work collaboratively with you to set your career goals and map out constructive pathways in your career transition or advancement.

Our career coaching programmes consist of multiple sessions of hour-long consultations with your chosen career coach. The length of a programme is typically between four to six sessions, depending on your goals and the coaching material to be covered.

Who Should See a Career Coach?

Feeling Unmotivated at Work

It's not uncommon to lose the passion you once had for a job. If you've been working in the same industry or position for years, you may find that you're no longer deriving a sense of satisfaction from what you're doing each day. We can help you to rediscover what once excited you about your career, or figure out if it's time for a change.

Not Functioning Optimally

You know you can do better, but you're not sure how. Often, when a person feels that they are not distinguishing themselves at work despite their best efforts, the root issue lies outside of work. Our career coaches are all trained psychotherapists and counsellors, and can aid you in releasing any old mental traumas that may be holding you back.

Experiencing Interpersonal Issues

It's the relationships that we can form with other people that often have the biggest impact on our career success. If you find yourself with strained relationships with your colleagues or bosses, or have become the target for office politics or workplace bullying, it can put your career at a standstill. Let us help you plan your next step forward.

Unable to Achieve Work-life Balance

Many people have problems juggling between work and personal life, especially as they progress in their career journey and are assigned more responsibilities. Stress mounts, deadlines loom, and relationships with family and friends suffer. We can help you achieve a more sustainable alternative to working long hours and weekends.

You may be struggling to see your career path clearly, or feel insecure about your future with a company or in an industry. Perhaps the business is downsizing, or the industry is rapidly changing. You may feel your skills are no longer valued, or be nervous about getting passed over for promotions. Let's take stock and re-evaluate your options.

Job Searching Without Success

You may know what you want, but are struggling to find it. Going for your dream job often means facing some incredibly tough competition, so why not maximise your chances with professional help? We can assist you with everything from resume creation and interviewing techniques, to personal appearance and networking skills.
